For most people who garden, it is a time of relaxation while being productive and a place to come and sit, enjoying the sight of the result of their hard work while having a cool drink and feeling the sun on their face. If you live in an urban area, or even in a planned community, it can be hard to get any privacy. Sure you like to show off your little utopia but having the option of a little more personal space is also desired.
Thankfully there are several options out there for utilizing screens, trellises, and even growing a privacy fence that will add to the charm of your space. Consider planting some climbing vines or peas. You could use simple twine or thin rope strung between a wooden frame for a low cost option or build yourself a privacy planter that also has a trellis!
The added bonus to installing any of the options shown here (including a video!) is it also cuts down on overall noise, especially if you are in a condo building. If you are just starting your balcony or deck garden, consider building some screens or trellis areas to provide shade and privacy. Doing so can increase your overall growing area by using vertical gardening!”
