There are places where chickens are banned from being raised. Home Owner’s associations are a prime example of places you can’t raise chickens at all. Oddly enough though, they don’t mind you raising quail. If you don’t know much about these amazing little birds, now is the perfect time to start!
Quail are smaller than chickens but they pack a powerhouse of work around your home! Quail eat more ticks than spiders do and are vocal alarm systems for when things aren’t right. Chickens will alarm you, too, but they tend to be larger and noisier birds. The noise and smell are usually the reasons given for the bans on raising chickens in certain HOAs and other municipalities. Just because you live in an HOA doesn’t mean you need to give up on your dreams!
There are other advantages to raisin quail, too! The start up costs and maintenance are much lower than chickens are, not to mention take up much less space to be happy and healthy. Their eggs are delicious and are considered a delicacy in many parts of the world!
