Candles are a preppers best friend, they give us light when the power goes out, they can even heat a room with help from a terracotta pot. The only bad thing about candles is that they are pretty pricey!
I found a great tutorial that shows you how to make candles that last 100 hours (have a think on how long 100 hours of realistic use is!) and only cost a buck to make, this in my books is awesome and making as many as you can is never going to overboard, these store forever and can be used as a bartering item, or gifts for fellow preppers. You need just three things to make these 100 hour emergency candles – a jar, a cheap table type candle and some shortening (Crisco or cheaper alternative). You can always find cheaper vessels and easily come in under $1.
