This great DIY Vertical Garden Planter can help you grow a lot of food or plants in a small space. This project is easy, cheap and great fun.
All you need to make these are an old plastic 55 gallon drum (be sure that no chemicals have been stored in the drum) a few screws and some scrap wood for the legs. This planter only takes up 2ft by 2ft and can grow over 50 plants or veggies in one drum. If you wanted less pockets and grow bigger veggies just take away a row or two.
This DIY vertical garden planter has an added bonus over other planters… it shows you how to make and install a worm tower so that they can fertilize the whole drum 🙂
You can obviously buy the 55 gallon drums new, but they can be quite expensive, look on Craigslist and your local classifieds as you may find them on there cheaper or even FREE.
You have to make sure that the drums didn’t contain chemicals tho, so try and get old food grade drums from restaurants etc. Check out the video and visit half-pinthomestead.com.
