The five stages of acceptance are the number of responses that Sheep will go through when placed in a SHTF scenario. I think it is important to understand them if you want to be good at dealing with people in a SHTF scenario.
What are the stages of acceptance?
DENIAL: There is no reason to prepare, you are crazy. Why would you need a gun?
ENTER SHTF SITUATION
DENIAL: Possibly more denial will happen directly after the event. “Somebody will save us. The Government is prepared for this and will help. No need to worry.”
ANGER: “Why didn’t the Government protect us from this or send help? We deserved better! Somebody should pay for this!” There response to you at best is, “I deserve to eat, I have kids, why should you hoard all of that! Give me some!” Look out for the anger phase, you might be glad you bought the weapons. But these attacks will not be very well thought out due to the fact that they are acting out of anger and have not yet reached the acceptance phase.
BARGAINING: Well they figured out that anger didn’t get them anywhere but shot or sent away at gunpoint(either that or they were successful and you’re dead, Game Over, no need to read any further)and they are not stealing your preps. But if you survived, now they turn to bargaining, “Please help us, we are starving and we need your protection.”
Depression: “There is no hope.”
Acceptance: Sheep lead to the slaughter. Totally submitting to whoever is in charge and accepting their fate. Either that or they will accept that to survive they will have to commit murder, steal, flee or submit. This is when attacks would become more thought out and better planned. This is the most dangerous or least dangerous person, depending on what reality they are willing to accept.
Some people might go through these steps in the matter of an hour, or it might take years, but everyone would go through them. It is important to remember that just because your neighbor was in the Bargaining phase on one day, doesn’t mean that he isn’t going to reach Acceptance by the next day and hasn’t been up all night planning your demise.
Have a plan to deal with all of these people, even if they are the same person.
