Slow cookers have been a god send for years, now convert them to dutch cooking if SHTF or for camping… even off the grid cooking.
Slow cookers are great if you want to cook a meal while you are out or at work. You just throw in all the ingredients, set the temperature and then wait for 8 – 10 hrs…. When you get home you have a wonderfully cooked meal.
Now, if the power goes out or you want the same results you can cook in a dutch oven. The cast iron beauty is probably one of the best investments you could have in the house. When cooking your slow cooker meals in the dutch oven it is a lot quicker, instead of 8 – 10 hrs you are looking at 3 – 4 hrs. Here is a great dutch oven set I recommend and it’s usually under $60.
I found a great site where you can see the conversion times and get a lot more advice and information on this topic over at theprepperjournal.com
