How To Travel When SHTF - Another thing you should consider for safe traveling is having more than one way of escaping. This should be planned for both routes and vehicles. Most people have a bugout plan and vehicle, but they don’t have a plan B for their main options. For most of them, traveling on foot is the alternative, but I suggest getting a bicycle if you can.  As for your bugout route, always map out alternative routes in case you encounter blockades.

Traveling from point A to point B during a SHTF scenario becomes a dangerous problem if you’re not prepared. Even if you plan to hunker down, at some point in time, you may be forced to travel to another location. Traveling in a world without laws is a major risk factor for you and your family.

You need to know where to go, but most importantly, you need to know how to get there. If you have no clue how to reach your destination, you will end up wondering in the wrong place. This may lead to a situation in which you will have to face the less desirable elements of society. The human factor is very unpredictable during a major crisis, and you need to stay away from people.

You should stay away from major cities and highways and you should keep in mind that highway exits will be blocked. Do whatever you can to avoid these locations or you will get trapped as well. Highways are the first option for the masses to leave and they will get jammed without any doubt. Not to mention that if Martial Law is declared, the Army will deploy checkpoints on all major highways.
