How aware of your surroundings are you? A thief could sneak up behind you, someone who looks suspicious can leave a bag in a public area or a person could be about to commit a horrible crime. All of this could be stopped with situational awareness.
What is it? Situational awareness, for me, is a level of understanding, identification and application of your surrounding environment. Basically, it means know your surroundings.
It’s something taught to special forces and law enforcement officers around the world to increase their understanding and logical approach to what is happening in front of them and assess dangers, risks and possible suspects. But it is not just the elite that can learn this skill, you can learn it by starting now.
In my time in the military I learnt about situational awareness using the example of a bar fight. You can read further on how it applies to every single scenario, and how you can improve your situational awareness through some very simple methods.
