Although many people rely on guns for self defense even when they’re away from home, others cannot for a number of reasons. It could be that firearms are illegal where they live, or that they’re afraid of owning them, maybe even against it.
In such circumstances, you’re left with alternative ways to protect yourself from attackers (though some of them may also be illegal, especially in certain European countries). Out of those alternatives, only one can actually be used in everyday life without raising suspicions, and that’s the tactical pen.
Such a pen is useless without practicing how to use it, but, nevertheless, you should know what to look for when you get one. You should also keep in mind the main body parts that you should aim for in one-on-one combat situations (the neck area, the eyes, the groin, the ribs etc.).
Last but not least, try to avoid the ones that are tacticool. The point of your EDC items is to look normal. You don’t want people asking about them and you most definitely don’t want your attacker to notice you have it. Just because a pen is advertised as “tactical”, that doesn’t mean it’s good for preppers. The reason many of them do look so cool is because they’re in high demand.
