Those of us who live in the North or in high altitudes are all too familiar with the abundance of snow that comes along during the winter months. Snow can prove to be a bit of an annoyance, especially for those of us who are generally isolated, or have homesteads with livestock and gardens. But since we can’t control the weather, we may as well have a bit of fun with it.
On Eco Mothering there is a great list of ways snow can be useful or fun in some capacity. Of course there’s the obvious snowman or snowball fight, but it turns out that you can clean rugs in the snow and conserve water by using melted snow to water houseplants. My favorite tip is to make maple candy out of hot syrup and snow, which is inspired by Little House on the Prairie!
