There are so many skills needed to survive a SHTF situation that can make a person feel very overwhelmed. Those who manage to get through the basics have put themselves far ahead of the game. Skills such as fire making, shelter building, and food preservation are all fine and important but there are 7 skills that will take you even further in your ability to make it.
These skills are more of the mind than of the hand. It can be a challenge to find ways to improve things like motivation, curiosity, and thinking outside the box in general. Motivation is one that you either have or don’t. As the article says, “Prepping is serious business,” and those who aren’t motivated generally do one of two things: They either give up after buying a few things and consider themselves “prepped” or they get overwhelmed and don’t even really start.
Remember that survival starts with your will, your mentality, and then your skills. Items can be taken from you but skills cannot. You have them even if all you have is literally the shirt on your back. Having the mental fortitude to survive, coupled with the skills you’ve learned and practiced, put you in the best possible situation you could ask for when the SHTF.
